Physically, it’s not too demanding as most of the heavy lifting will be handled by their moving team. However, carrying boxes and lighter items will be part of the role.
The work mainly takes place in Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda. Their warehouse is located in Concord, so reliable transportation is a must. They’re happy for the successful candidate to use their own car if they’re willing, with mileage expenses reimbursed.
Initially, the position will be part-time, with potential to move quickly into a full-time role, if there’s a good fit. Over time, they expect this role to evolve into that of a Lead Designer. The starting salary is between $25-30 per hour, depending on your experience.
On daily basis, the tasks involve assisting lead designers in creating concept layouts and staging plans. The successful candidate will also contribute to picking the right lighting to enhance the ambiance of each room and highlight its key features. Overseeing renovation and remodeling activities will also fall within the role to ensure design consistency and high quality standards.
Other responsibilities include collaborating on drafting contracts, proposals, and scope of work documents for clients and vendors. The role also involves site visits to assist with installation, styling, and putting final staging touches to ensure the highest presentation standards.
The candidate must have a strong understanding of interior design principles such as color theory, lighting design, and space planning. Excellent communication skills are critical for effective collaboration with team members and clients. Prior experience or coursework in interior design or related fields is preferred, but not strictly necessary.
