This fast-paced, design-oriented company that offers home staging, event rentals, and interior design services is in need of a Director of Operations & Technology. They want someone who can balance creativity, logistics, and innovation. This is a position for a leader who can optimize and expand their operational and technological platforms to support unrivaled client experiences and ongoing business growth.
The Director of Operations & Technology will manage all daily operations, such as warehouse and inventory management, logistics, fleet, staging and installation workflows, team performance, and facilities. Additionally, they will oversee the execution of technology systems, including their implementation and integration with automation and AI.
In terms of Operations Leadership, the successful candidate will need to formulate and execute scalable strategies for warehousing, logistics, and field operations. They will be expected to lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team in these areas. They will also need to coordinate operations with larger business goals through close interaction with the executive leadership.
Regarding Technology, Automation, and AI, they will be required to manage and enhance all operational platforms. They will need to identify and execute system integrations and process automations to boost productivity and lessen manual work. The Director will also have to guide the adoption of new technology and AI tools to support logistics, inventory, and project management.
Warehouse operations, facilities, logistics, and field oversight will be a part of their responsibilities. They will manage scheduling and execution of all operational activities within staging, design, and rental projects. Optimal fleet operations and staffing for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliable service will fall under their purview. The Director will have to establish field protocols for on-site safety, professionalism, and upholding brand standards.
Additionally, data and reporting tasks will involve developing dashboards and tools to track KPIs and project progress with real-time accuracy. They will need to use data insights to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements.
The person taking on this role will be expected to manage physical spaces and lead facility upgrades as required. They will also need to create and maintain SOPs to support consistency, expandability, and cooperation across departments.
The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in operations, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in the design, staging or hospitality industries. They should have a record of managing complex, high-volume, multi-team operations in a fast-paced environment. Experience in operational platforms and systems integrations is needed. They also need to be familiar with AI tools or machine learning applications in operational workflows. A bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field is expected, with an advanced degree being a plus.
Other critical skills include exceptional leadership and team-building, strong project management capabilities, and excellent problem-solving skills. They should be tech-savvy with fluency in digital tools and a continuous improvement mindset.
