Home Stager Staging Assistant

About this role

StyleHouse Home Staging and Design is hiring a Staging & Design Assistant in Tempe, AZ. This part-time role supports both the staging and interior design departments, offering hands-on experience across furniture prep, installations, client consultations, and design sourcing.

The position involves working alongside the Lead Stager and Lead Interior Designer on varied daily tasks. An assistant might spend one day pulling, packing, and tagging furniture for upcoming projects, then the next day shadowing design consultations or researching décor options for clients.

Staging responsibilities include pulling and preparing furniture and accessories according to pull lists, styling rooms on installation day, conducting quality checks to ensure consistency and cleanliness, and assisting with de-staging work including packing, cleanup, and final walkthroughs.

  • Pull, pack, and tag furniture and décor ahead of staging days
  • Style beds, bathrooms, kitchens, and accessories during staging installations
  • Check completed rooms for wrinkles, smudges, and design consistency
  • Support de-staging activities on larger projects

Warehouse and inventory management requires maintaining an organized storage space, returning items to proper locations after projects, and flagging any damaged, missing, or low-stock inventory to the Lead Stager.

Client and design support involves shadowing occupied staging and design consultations while taking notes, photos, and measurements, sourcing furnishings and materials for design projects, tracking orders and documentation, and assisting with shopping, installations, and project breakdowns.

Day-to-day communication includes logging updates and issues in StageForce after each project, monitoring email and responding promptly, and keeping the team informed of any concerns or status changes.

The successful candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail with an eye for styling and design. Physical capability is important, as the role requires lifting and moving furniture, especially during peak staging days. Reliability and punctuality are essential, along with flexibility to accommodate busy periods. The applicant should communicate clearly with the team, take direction well, and maintain a professional presence during client interactions. Familiarity with software systems for tracking work is expected, though training on StageForce will be provided. A genuine interest in growing toward interior design work, including sourcing, styling, and order management, is important for this position.

  • Strong attention to detail and styling sense
  • Comfortable lifting and moving furniture at a steady pace
  • Reliable and punctual with flexibility for peak-season schedules
  • Clear communicator who takes direction and asks clarifying questions
  • Professional demeanor suitable for client-facing occupied consultations
  • Organized and able to learn tracking systems like StageForce
  • Interest in developing interior design skills over time
  • Prior experience in staging, interior design, retail visual merchandising, or related field is helpful but not required

This role is structured to build skills and expand responsibility. As competency grows, the assistant will take on more complex tasks including independent sourcing and styling work, and eventually leading occupied client consultations. For someone committed to building a long-term career in staging and design, this position offers a solid entry point.

Candidates should send a resume and a brief note explaining their interest to lola@stylehouseaz.com or apply through Indeed. The position offers 10 to 30 hours per week starting at $20 per hour based on experience. Work is in person at the Tempe, AZ location.
