Stylist for Home Staging

Kim McCall Design is hiring a Stylist for Home Staging in Bainbridge Island, WA. This position offers full-time employment from February through September, then transitions to a reduced schedule from October through January. The work is conducted almost entirely during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

The stylist serves as the creative director on staging projects, setting the design direction and aesthetic strategy for each job. This role involves hands-on placement of furniture and décor sourced from an extensive inventory, encompassing a wide range of styles from Coastal and Mid-Century Modern to French Country, Northwest Contemporary, and Farmhouse aesthetics. The stylist provides direct oversight of staging crew members who handle logistics like moving materials, assembling furnishings, hanging artwork, and styling kitchens, bathrooms, and bookshelves. The team completes full home furnishing and styling in a single day, with the stylist taking primary responsibility for common areas and large furniture placement.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Developing the styling strategy and creative direction for each staging project
• Selecting and positioning furniture and décor from a varied inventory
• Making aesthetic decisions that reflect the company's brand and standards
• Overseeing and directing a crew of stagers on styling details
• Styling common areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and bookshelves
• Ensuring professional presentation of completed spaces
• Physical activity including standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, kneeling occasionally, and lifting items up to approximately 20 pounds
• Assisting with light logistics as part of a team effort; professional movers handle larger heavy items

Candidates should possess styling talent and relevant professional experience. Acceptable backgrounds include home staging, interior design, or retail/visual merchandising work. Applicants without professional experience but with demonstrable styling ability are encouraged to submit a portfolio of real rooms they have styled.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Reliable ability to commute to Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap County; long ferry commutes and distant travel are not feasible for this role
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Willingness to undergo a criminal background check, required due to access to clients' homes
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a collaborative, positive team dynamic
• Capability to lead by example and through collaboration rather than commanding direction
• Proficiency in receiving and delivering guidance constructively
• Demonstrated professional reliability and a drama-free working style

Applicants should submit a resume and a portfolio or photos of rooms they have personally styled through the application platform, along with a brief statement on their interest in the position. Kim McCall Design has operated for 20 years and is recognized as the staging leader on Bainbridge Island, partnering with top local real estate agents and providing elevated styling and comprehensive design resources. The company also operates an interior design division, offering potential for expanded career opportunities.
