About this role

Stage Smart is hiring a Home Staging Operations & Design Manager in Portland, OR. This part-time role starts at approximately 20 hours per week with potential for growth in hours and responsibility after a 90-day review period.

This position blends design expertise, project management, administration, client service, and hands-on staging work. The manager will coordinate staging projects from initial walkthrough through installation and removal, manage the scheduling of movers and installations, and handle communication with Realtors, homeowners, builders, property managers, designers, and vendors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating staging projects from walkthrough through installation and de-staging
  • Managing schedules for movers, installations, deliveries, and property access
  • Conducting property walkthroughs and recommending staging approaches
  • Collaborating on furniture, artwork, accessories, and lighting selections
  • Hanging artwork and assisting with hands-on staging installations and design adjustments
  • Organizing furniture and accessory purchases
  • Tracking project schedules, client information, job notes, and follow-ups
  • Managing and organizing warehouse and staging inventory
  • Developing proposals and communicating project details to clients
  • Building relationships with Realtors, builders, investors, and property managers
  • Creating and refining systems to increase company efficiency
  • Taking on increasing operational responsibility as the role develops

Technology and AI are central to this position. The manager should be comfortable using tools like ChatGPT and similar platforms to create operating procedures, develop workflows and checklists, organize project information, draft client communications, improve scheduling, and build efficient systems. No programming experience is required, but the candidate must be willing to learn new tools and apply sound judgment when reviewing technology-generated content for accuracy.

The role demands flexibility. The manager may spend one day communicating with clients and organizing schedules, and the next day walking properties, selecting furniture, hanging artwork, coordinating installations, solving problems, or organizing inventory. This is not a desk-only position.

Qualifications and attributes:

  • Three years of contemporary design experience
  • One year of experience using ChatGPT, Claude, or similar AI administrative tools
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong administrative ability
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable and accountable
  • Strong communication skills with comfort working directly with clients
  • Confidence coordinating multiple people and projects
  • Ability to lead and provide direction when necessary
  • Creative and design-minded approach
  • Resourceful problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable making decisions independently
  • Able to prioritize multiple concurrent projects
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Interested in designing systems and improving processes
  • Willing to learn quickly
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Ability to commute to Portland, OR 97202

The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative and doesn't wait to be told what to do. When noticing inefficiency, this person thinks about how to build systems that ensure tasks get done correctly consistently.

Starting pay is $30 per hour, with the range being $26.95 to $33.00 per hour depending on experience. The position works approximately 15 to 30 hours per week. After 90 days, Stage Smart will review the role with opportunities for increased responsibility, hours, and compensation. Applicants should submit a resume and a brief introduction addressing their interest in the position, relevant experience in project management, administration, home staging, interior design, real estate, or logistics, current use of AI or technology, an example of a system or process they created or improved, and availability and preferred weekly schedule.
