Cypress Homes is hiring an Interior Designer in Appleton, WI. This full-time, on-site position involves guiding homeowners through interior selections for residential construction projects, coordinating materials and design details, and collaborating across sales, construction, marketing, supplier, and trade-partner teams. The role requires travel to local project sites.
Client Relations and Design:
- Meet with sales teams to learn client timelines, preferences, budgets, needs, and constraints
- Establish design direction covering style, color, finishes, materials, and budget parameters
- Create and manage selection schedules and coordinate homeowner meetings to keep decisions and deadlines on track
- Present design options that reflect client preferences and align with the home's overall aesthetic
- Attend pre-construction meetings, review contract terms, and communicate next steps clearly
- Prepare change orders, obtain approvals, and communicate changes to clients and internal and external partners
Project and Material Coordination:
- Monitor upcoming builds, active projects, and construction timelines
- Coordinate material selections, secure quotes, request samples, place orders, manage deliveries, and track installation schedules
- Watch quote expiration dates and confirm schedules with Project Managers, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Place accurate orders and follow up to confirm timely arrival
- Inspect in-house material deliveries for damage and prepare packages for job-site transport
- Prepare and maintain cost breakdowns, material options, and change-order documentation
- Build subcontractor frame packs and project site binders with accuracy and timeliness
- Update final selections and project information in the project management system
Model Design and Team Support:
- Develop interior and exterior concepts for model homes
- Contribute to new home-plan concepts, plan revisions, and budget planning
- Stage and de-stage model homes with marketing and construction teams
- Keep the design center organized, attractive, and functional
- Participate in production meetings and contribute to scheduling and workload planning
- Support department collaboration and process improvements
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and external partners
- Own design details and follow through on commitments to ensure a smooth building process
Required Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of color, texture, finishes, materials, and spatial design principles
- Ability to apply design principles confidently when working with clients
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Capacity to manage multiple clients, projects, deadlines, orders, and shifting priorities
- Effective communication skills to work with homeowners, salespeople, Project Managers, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Basic proficiency with Adobe programs, Publisher, image-editing tools, and Microsoft Office
- Formal education in Interior Design
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Interior Design
- 4 to 7 years of residential interior design experience
- Experience preparing selections, material orders, cost information, or change orders

The pay range is $26.00 to $29.00 per hour based on experience, with the stated range targeting candidates with approximately 4 to 7 years of relevant residential interior design experience.
