Vesta Home is hiring a Buyer for a remote position supporting the company's product assortment strategy. The role reports to the VP of Merchandising and balances creative vision with tactical execution and financial planning. As Vesta shifts its sourcing efforts toward proprietary in-house design, the Buyer works closely with product designers and the Product Development team to guide concepts from conception through production while also identifying and managing off-the-shelf sourcing opportunities. The position collaborates with inventory, operations, and field designers to build an assortment that reflects Vesta's standards for design quality, craftsmanship, and service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work with the VP of Merchandising to execute seasonal and quarterly buying strategies aligned with aesthetic, financial, and operational goals
- Partner with the Product Development team on product development initiatives while identifying off-the-shelf options that complement proprietary offerings
- Identify, build, and maintain vendor partnerships; negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and order quantities to foster collaborative long-term relationships
- Review vendor proposals and product samples to assess quality, design, and value against Vesta standards
- Manage OTB tracking spreadsheets with precision, maintaining accuracy across purchasing data, pricing, and timelines in a hands-on, detail-intensive environment with minimal automation
- Work with the Director of Supply Chain to execute demand planning, process purchase orders, and manage vendor communications
- Track assortment performance against usage rates, staging cost per square foot targets, and sell-through data
- Coordinate with Creative Directors to ensure the assortment meets designer and client needs
- Monitor industry trends and designer feedback to identify gaps and new product opportunities, presenting findings to the VP of Merchandising
- Deliver regular reporting and insights on vendor performance, assortment health, and business possibilities to leadership
- Maintain organized records of vendor communications and quarterly planning documentation
- Bring a strong eye for design and commitment to timeless, high-quality home furnishings that uphold Vesta's reputation
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability across responsibilities while collaborating across teams
Candidates should have a BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience, plus 5 to 7 years of buying or merchandising background.
