Brooke Paper Scissors Home Staging and Interior Design is hiring an experienced Interior Designer and Home Stager in San Diego, CA. This part-time position offers 20 to 35 hours per week and combines interior design, furniture sourcing, home staging, and on-site styling work. The role requires hands-on involvement across all phases of projects, from the creative design stage to warehouse inventory management to final installation and merchandising.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Design and style residential interiors, short-term rental properties, and staged homes
- Select and source furniture, rugs, lighting, artwork, accessories, and decorative items based on project style, budget, and timeline
- Develop mood boards and prepare design presentations for clients
- Pull and organize furniture and accessories from the staging inventory warehouse
- Lead and support home staging installations across San Diego
- Merchandise and style spaces during on-site installations
- Partner with design, warehouse, and moving teams to execute projects
- Balance multiple projects and deadlines at once
- Handle independent problem-solving when circumstances shift in the field
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Professional experience in interior design, home staging, or a closely related field
- Strong current design sensibility with excellent understanding of scale, color, and spatial relationships
- Ability to assess a space and make confident design decisions
- Organized, decisive work style with the ability to operate efficiently under pressure
- Self-directed approach that requires minimal supervision
- Comfort with both creative design work and hands-on staging labor
- Dependable, team-oriented communication and collaboration skills
- Physical capability for on-site work during staging installations
- Reliable transportation with availability to travel throughout San Diego County
- Schedule flexibility, as weekly hours vary based on project volume and installation timing
Home staging experience is strongly preferred. Experienced interior designers with strong portfolios who are interested in learning the staging side of the business are also encouraged to apply.
Compensation is $30 to $32 per hour depending on experience. Part-time hours average 20 to 35 per week, with variation based on project schedules. Paid time off is included. The position offers potential for additional hours and advancement as the role grows.
