Vesta Home is hiring a Warehouse Repair Technician in Hayward, CA. This role protects inventory by combining technical skills with artistic sensibility to inspect, repair, and restore furniture and home accessories to showroom condition. The technician will handle wood refinishing, structural repairs, surface restoration, and upholstery work to ensure every piece meets Vesta Home's luxury standards before it ships for staging or delivery.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Evaluate damage to wood, metal, leather, fabric, and upholstered surfaces and select appropriate repair techniques.
- Restore structural soundness by mending loose joints, fractured frames, and compromised finishes.
- Execute specialized cosmetic work such as burn-ins, wood grain replication, and color matching to render repairs imperceptible.
- Re-upholster and refurbish furniture pieces for visual consistency throughout inventory.
- Perform thorough quality inspections of all furniture to identify defects, damage, or deterioration and ensure alignment with Vesta Home's luxury benchmarks.
- Apply protective treatments including stain removal, leather conditioning, and wood finishing to strengthen furniture durability.
- Maintain rigorous cleaning and sanitization protocols for all upholstered and textile components.
- Operate workshop equipment including sanders, saws, and spray tools while following safety standards.
- Liaise with warehouse and customer service departments to manage and prioritize urgent repair orders.
- Collaborate with the design team on custom refurbishment and modification projects.
- Participate in furniture assembly and disassembly work.
- Support warehouse organization and space efficiency.
- Serve as a safety monitor during truck yard operations, including spotting for backing vehicles and controlling traffic flow during loading and unloading.
Candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- At least three years of hands-on experience in furniture repair, woodworking, or upholstery work.
- Proven knowledge of restoration methods including burn-ins, color matching, wood graining, fabric stretching, and structural repairs.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Advanced technical certification or formal training in furniture restoration is valued.
- Sharp attention to detail and understanding of design principles aligned with luxury standards.
- Physical capacity for warehouse work involving prolonged standing, frequent bending, and detailed manual tasks; ability to lift and move furniture up to 50 lbs. individually, with two-person assistance required for heavier items.
- Comfort in warehouse settings with exposure to machinery, chemical finishes, and cleaning agents while following safety requirements.
- Strong organizational ability to manage multiple repair assignments efficiently.
