Cathy Hobbs Design Recipes is hiring a Part-Time Junior Interior Designer, Home Stager/Visual Merchandiser in New York, NY. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience with one of the country's top 10 ranked home staging firms and top 5 in Manhattan, founded by 5-time Emmy Award-winning television host Cathy Hobbs.
The position is based in NYC with travel to the Hudson Valley headquarters 1, 2 times per week, with transportation provided. This is a field-based role, not desk work. Primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting property walkthroughs with real estate agents to assess design and staging needs
- Preparing pick sheets and pulling inventory from the company's curated warehouse
- Assisting with staging installations in luxury homes and short-term rentals
- Styling spaces using furniture, accessories, and artwork
- Contributing to collaborative creative projects with the staging team
Candidates should have studied interior design, home products, visual merchandising, or a related field, or possess hands-on experience demonstrating equivalent design instincts. Essential qualifications include physical ability to work on job sites and in the warehouse, strong organizational and communication skills, ability to take direction while showing initiative, and reliability under pressure as part of a team. Applicants must live in one of NYC's five boroughs and be willing to travel to the Hudson Valley 1, 2 times weekly. Some comfort with furniture handling, accessory placement, or layout execution is expected. Prior experience in visual merchandising or home decor styling is valued but not required.
