Empire Office Inc is hiring a Stylist in Albany, NY to execute design concepts through on-site installation and styling for Model Home Interiors (MHI), a division specializing in residential and lifestyle real estate furnishings. This position involves the final stages of design implementation across multifamily housing, student residences, senior living communities, and model homes. The Stylist will work across projects in the East Coast region and be responsible for transforming design concepts into polished, completed spaces ready for occupants or buyers.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute on-site installation and styling for residential projects, including model homes, rental units, and amenity spaces
- Position furniture, soft goods, art, décor, and accessories according to approved design intent and brand standards
- Direct installation teams on placement and sequencing of work
- Make design adjustments on-site when architectural conditions or building conditions differ from plans
- Conduct client walkthroughs to present finished spaces and explain design decisions aligned with brand and builder requirements
- Create final project documentation including completion photos, punch lists, substitution notes, and recommended follow-up actions
- Inspect styled spaces for accuracy, craftsmanship, and completeness
- Flag deficiencies, missing items, damaged pieces, and other issues affecting project delivery
- Develop contingency solutions when inventory or site conditions require adjustments or substitutions
- Coordinate with warehouse and procurement to resolve outstanding inventory issues
- Work with designers to understand design plans, specifications, and styling objectives before installation begins
- Communicate with project managers about timeline concerns, field conditions, and required approvals
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in interior styling, residential design, visual merchandising, or model home staging
- Strong visual sense for design composition, proportion, and visual storytelling
- Ability to make quick decisions on-site while maintaining design integrity
- Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
- Experience directing installation crews
- Effective problem-solving and adaptability to changing conditions
- Ability to read design plans, elevations, and furniture layouts
- Valid driver's license
- 100 percent on-site presence at project locations required; willingness to travel to job sites as needed
