About this role
Preferred Staging, LLC is hiring a Home Staging and Staging Warehouse Operations Assistant in Sterling, VA. This is a hands-on, physical part-time role combining warehouse coordination with on-site staging support for a nationally recognized home staging company serving the luxury real estate market in the Washington DC metro area.
The position is not design or decoration-focused. Instead, it blends independent warehouse work with project-based staging and destaging activities that involve lifting, organizing, and active movement throughout the day.
Warehouse responsibilities include managing professional movers for outgoing projects and returns, receiving and assembling new inventory, maintaining care for furniture, rugs, art, and accessories, performing minor repairs and damage assessment, packing and unpacking inventory, organizing the warehouse, and suggesting efficiency improvements. The assistant will also communicate with team members and vendors as needed.
On staging and destaging projects, the assistant works under the lead stager's direction, helping with inventory management, lifting and moving pieces (including across stairs), unpacking and setup work, steaming bedding, loading and unloading vehicles, and wrapping, packing, labeling, and restocking items.

- Assess damage and perform minor repairs as needed
- Keep warehouse space organized and suggest organizational improvements

- Work both independently in the warehouse and as part of the team on project days
Applicants must own a car capable of transporting large items such as lamp shades, bins, and art. The role requires detail orientation, strong organization and time management skills, excellent communication, comfort working independently for extended periods, reliability, and a positive, team-first attitude open to direction and feedback. Candidates living near Sterling are strongly preferred due to early start times and variable scheduling.
Hours vary week to week based on the staging schedule, with start times as early as 7:30am and some days extending into late afternoon or evening. This is an hourly part-time position with no benefits package. Starting pay is $20 per hour, with the potential to reach $22 per hour. The role includes a 60-day probationary period. Additional compensation includes an employee discount where applicable, cell phone stipend, and mileage reimbursement.
